Efficiency for Access Design Challenge 2019 – 2020
Overview of Challenge 2019-20
The first year of the competition began in September 2019 and ended with the Grand Final in June 2020. 78 students from nine universities in Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda and the UK participated in the first year of the Challenge. Students benefited from remote support throughout the year from their industry mentors and attended Challenge webinars. This enhanced the students’ understanding of the off-grid sector and the topics to consider when designing their projects.
Pitching and Speed Networking
Pitching sessions took place on Wednesday 17 and Friday 19 June 2020. Participating student teams pitched their final projects to a panel of expert judges. Before attending the Grand Final, students also connected with off-grid industry experts as part of our online Speed Networking event.
The Grand Final
The winning teams were announced at the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge Grand Final, which took place on Thursday 25 June 2020. Six teams won gold, silver and bronze awards. Discover the winning teams and their projects here.
