Prototype Funding Application

Prototype Funding Application

We are pleased to announce that the IKEA Foundation will provide funding for our participant students to prototype their project ideas. This fantastic opportunity will help the teams to demonstrate their concept to the judges, investor network, and the audience at the virtual Grand Final in June.

Key Dates

The window for applications opens 11 January 2021 and closes on  25 January 2021*.

Why create a prototype?

A prototype is a simple experimental model of a proposed solution used to test or validate ideas, design assumptions and other aspects of its conceptualisation quickly and cheaply. Prototypes are not limited to functioning models and include:

  • Simple sketches or storyboards used to illustrate a proposed experiential solution,
  • Paper or digital models.

Developing and then testing a prototype will help the teams to uncover any assumptions or biases behind their idea.

Participating students will have access to the guidance document with details on how to apply and the templates. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us via email at EforAchallenge@est.org.uk.

* Universities starting the Challenge in February will have a special window to apply for the prototyping funds.
