Life Cycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions Assessment of Off- and Weak-Grid Refrigeration Technologies
The Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) programme undertook this research to assess the overall climate impact from the full life cycle of off-grid domestic refrigerators and walk-in cold rooms.
A comprehensive life cycle greenhouse gas emission assessment was carried
out on three cooling technologies used in low- and middle-income off- and
weak-grid markets. This report describes methodological details alongside
summaries of climate-related insights.
The authors have developed a summary of this report titled, ‘Note for policy
makers: Life cycle GHG emissions assessment of off- and weak-grid refrigeration
technologies’, which will assist policymakers to incentivise the development
of least carbon off- and weak-grid refrigeration technologies suitable for
developing countries.
