Appliances Empower
The campaign aimed to Advance Gender Equality and Inclusion Through Energy-Efficient Appliances
In March 2020, Efficiency for Access celebrated the conclusion to the Appliances Empower campaign, our longest and most successful communications campaign to-date. Over the course of five months, Appliances Empower partnered with 22 organisations, earned three million impressions on social media, and reached participants across 40 countries.
Highlights of the campaign included the #AppliancesEmpowerChat, the #InclusiveAppliancesChat, a webinar on Female Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, and the Empowering Access Pledge, which 40 organisations have signed to-date.

Appliances Empower was a global campaign to advance gender equality and inclusion through energy-efficient appliances. From 4 November 2019 to 31 March 2020, the Appliances Empower campaign centred women in global energy access by connecting high-performing, energy-efficient appliances and SDG 7 to SDG 5.
The Appliances Empower campaign adopted an interdisciplinary approach, connecting SDG 5 and SDG 7 to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Each month, the Appliances Empower campaign highlighted one of the above SDGs, allowing us to dive deep into specific appliance technologies and their impacts.
