Enabling Technologies Call
Applications are now closed. Read below for further details.
Efficiency for Access invited funding applications for R&D projects that will develop enabling technologies or products for weak and off-grid areas, with a particular focus on inclusivity and interoperability.
Up to £2 million in funding was made available, supported by UK aid and the IKEA Foundation. Between £50,000 to £300,000 of funding will become available per project.
How to apply
Applications are now closed. Winning organisations to receive funding from the Enabling Technologies Call will be announced soon.
The focus on enabling technologies was made in recognition of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This includes SDG 5 to achieve gender equality, SDG 7 to ensure access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for all, and SDG 10 to reduce inequality within and amongst countries.
The percentage of funding is dependent on the size of the organisation, ranging from 90% for start-up and micro-sized organisations to 50% for large organisations. We encourage applications based in, or conducting R&D projects in UK aid priority countries.
You can read the guidance for applicants document which provides the full details of the call including the scope, eligibility criteria, key dates, application assistance details and links to programme documents such as our grant agreement and reporting templates.
