Reliable Healthcare Starts with the Right Medical Appliances
This report highlights the urgent need to improve the performance, procurement and deployment of medical appliances in healthcare facilities operating in weak- and off-grid settings.
The Medical Appliances for Resource-Constrained Settings report, produced under the Efficiency for Access coalition with @SEforALL, investigates how mismatches between energy supply and medical equipment affect healthcare systems. The study found that many appliances are not suited to facilities with unreliable power, resulting in underperformance and limited impact. The research identifies opportunities to improve appliance design, procurement, and use, supporting more reliable and effective healthcare services in resource-constrained settings.
