This study assesses the electricity consumption patterns, technical performance, and socio-economic implications of solar mini-grids supporting grain milling in Lamwo District, Northern Uganda. The assessment combined metered energy measurements from three grain-milling customers across the Ogili and Muddu Central mini-grid sites, measurements at the Apyetta mini-grid, and key informant interviews with nine stakeholders. The findings show that grain milling is an important productive-use anchor load, and that milling equipment performance directly affects electricity costs, mini-grid reliability, equipment life, and the broader economic benefits of rural electrification. Awareness is a key intervention to transform the sustainability and reliability of mini-grids and downstream services, as is the case with milling.
